About Dog Day Afternoon

Owned and operated locally since 1997, Dog Day Afternoon is Belleville’s first and only all natural grooming and pet health food store. First located on West Main, we moved to Frank Scott Parkway in April of 2006 to better serve our clients. Since then we have expanded our retail and now carry over fifty brands of wholesome, quality foods and treats for dogs and cats–the community’s first provider for healthy alternatives. For your peace of mind we make a conscious effort to offer products that are made in the U.S.A.

We not only want your pets to feel good, but to look good, too! Our trusted pet stylists have years of experience behind them, ensuring an efficient and professional groom for your dog. We use state-of-the-art equipment, all natural grooming products, and put the safety and comfort of your dog first.

Meet Our Team

Cathy Dervalis

CEO and Founder
An avid animal lover her whole life, Cathy began grooming over twenty years ago. A first-time business owner, she took over Dog Day Afternoon in 1999, and it quickly became her whole life. When her golden retriever began developing severe allergy problems, Cathy began digging into the world of natural pet foods and supplements, unearthing some very disturbing truths about the more mainstream brands she was feeding her pets. Passionate about her findings, she began to share what she had learned, and soon after that, Dog Day Afternoon was selling its first whole foods. More retail blossomed from there; with a focus on safety, Cathy ordered specialty treats and toys, and made a special effort to carry fun, unique products for her clientele. She currently has two border terriers, Frankie and Blaze, a little black cat named Annie, and a parrot. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters, gardening, and pet and child photography.

Dani and Molly Jaeger

Retail
Dani has been working as a part-time receptionist and retail specialist at Dog Day Afternoon for two years. She enjoys researching new products that may be beneficial to our clients, and strongly believes many pet health issues can be alleviated, if not resolved completely, by simple diet changes. Like most people at Dog Day Afternoon, she has always had a penchant for animals and now has two cats and a dog, plus a menagerie of small animals that includes birds, lizards and hermit crabs. Along with spending time with her three girls, she enjoys reading, writing, and trying new recipes at home. Molly, our store greeter, is there to meet everyone with a friendly smile and see everyone out with an enthusiastic wave. She loves dogs and cats alike, and is always eager to help out by testing our new toys.

Cindy Green

Pet Stylist
A groomer for over twenty-four years, Cindy has spent the last eleven of them working for Dog Day Afternoon. She has always owned and loved animals, has an eye for details, knows the little things can make the biggest differences, and takes great pride in job well done. The professionalism and speed that come from years of experiences are exhibited in each and every groom. Cindy has a dog, a cat, and a fish at home. She loves baking pastries, cakes, and breads, as well as working and playing at a local stable with her two beautiful daughters.

Stacy Hughes

Pet Stylist

Stacy has been working for Dog Day Afternoon for five years, but has been grooming for over seventeen years. Her love for cats and dogs, as well as her involvement in the AKC dog shows is how she came to learn that grooming was her destined career. Her continued participation in AKC and UKC shows keeps her up to date on the current grooming trends. She can groom your dog to their correct breed profiles while highlighting their best attributes. When not at work, Stacy might be playing with her dogs in performance events such as obedience, dock diving, and hunt tests, or drag racing personal water craft in the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series.

Tanja Moneyhun

Pet Stylist
Tanya has been a part-time groomer for Dog Day Afternoon for a couple of years, and has been grooming for over seventeen. She got her first taste in grooming during a summer trip to England where she stayed and helped out at a friend’s kennel, fell in love with the work (and the animals!), and attended grooming school as soon as she came back to the States. Tanya has four cats and a poodle to keep her busy at home, but she also enjoys gardening, household projects, painting and playing her guitar.

Reda Waldron

Pet Stylist
After getting her first dog, Frosty, Reda knew she wanted to somehow devote her time to dogs. She has been grooming for over fifteen years and loves how her career allows her to spend time with the animals she loves while expressing her artistic talent. Her quiet, calm demeanor puts her clients at ease, which makes the job mutually pleasant for both dog and groomer. At home, Reda looks after two dogs and a cat, and spends her free time oil painting, drawing, and interior decorating.
